Founding Director Jim Duncan started Eco-Fast in 2014 shortly after being introduced to the ecoProactive™ binder. Jim was working in the construction industry and had always thought there must be a better way of making roads and paths than 'dig and dump' then importing new materials. After a lot of research into different soil stabilisation techniques, Jim was convinced that ecoProactive™ had much more to offer than traditional lime/cement stabilisation techniques.
Dr Colin Cunningham joined Eco-Fast in 2016. His PhD is in soil remediation and he was Director of the Contaminated Land Assessment and Remediation Research Centre (CLARRC) at the University of Edinburgh from 1998 until 2010. Colin was also the founder and Director of the Scottish Environmental Technology Network (SETN) that grew to a membership of over 250 SMEs being supported developing environmental and clean technologies. He moved the SETN group to the University of Strathclyde in 2010 and this is where he met Jim whilst doing trials of ecoProactive™ to stabilise different 'waste' materials such as canal dredgings for use in path construction. Colin is an eco-innovation specialist and an invited expert to the European Commission on Environmental Technology Verification (ETV).
As sole UK agents for ecoProactive™, our binder is manufactured in the UK and tailored for UK applications. ecoProactive™ is a wholly owned product of the Caledonia Investment Company Ltd (Hong Kong) who developed soil stabilisation binders after many years of research and development. The majority of their projects are in South East Asia e.g. Thailand and Vietnam using an ecoProactive™ binder formulation tailored for conditions in those regions.
